The decoration surprised me so much. It made me feel like I had been to in Japan Their signature fried fish isn't on the menu, but it's really crispy and delicious, and this is the first time I've tasted it! It's also good value, especially for happy hour, which has a lovely hand-drawn menu
Our family enjoy this place. Solid sushi specialty rolls and ramen. Price is fair and service is great. Definitely a must try.
As soon as you walk in, it looks like you’re at a Sushi restaurant in Tokyo. Their tuna rice bites were my favorite. All the rolls were delicious too. The staff was quick to serve and always attentive. Can’t find anything to critique.

This ramen shop on Main St. in Alhambra may look unassuming from the outside, but it's truly a hidden gem that left us pleasantly surprised. The service here is also exceptionally warm and attentive, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. This time, my daughter and I ordered the Vegetable Ramen and Wakame Udon, with Popcorn Chicken and Agedashi Tofu as appetizers. My Vegetable Ramen featured a rich and savory broth, paired with tofu, scallions, corn, seaweed, and black fungus. Adding a touch of spice elevated the flavors, creating a more complex and satisfying taste. My daughter's Wakame Udon had a sweet and light broth made with seaweed, scallions, and fish cake, which was perfect for those who prefer a more subtle flavor. The Popcorn Chicken, a must-order dish at every table, was undoubtedly the highlight of our meal! Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside without being greasy, it easily outclassed any popcorn chicken we've had elsewhere. The Agedashi Tofu was equally impressive, with its silky texture and perfectly balanced sauce. We're thrilled to have discovered this hidden culinary treasure and will definitely be back!
It's a cozy little shop right at the corner of Main & Atlantic. They have a small parking lot behind the restaurant, so you can usually find parking around here. If not, there's always a free parking structure nearby. The staff is really friendly and can give you good recommendations if it's your first time here. I would personally either their popcorn chicken ramen or chicken cutlet ramen. The chicken is super fresh and crispy here. The ramen broth is also really great. It's has authentic flavor and is not too thick like most other ramen restaurants. Keep in mind, since this restaurant is small in size, expect to wait during rush hour. But the wait usually isn't that long. They are also doing a little promotion that you can add $1 when ordering an entrée to add a side of gyoza with your food. So definitely give it a shot.
The ramen was very delicious and the Aji fry was very tasty. I would go back here again!

I’ve been to Shinkai many times for lunch and dinner and they have never disappointed. Their food quality and service especially from Joe, continues to be wonderful. They seriously have one of the best lunch deals around and it’s offered on weekdays & weekends. This time around we ordered the Deluxe Sashimi Lunch and the Combo with a Toro don(very rare to find especially at such a reasonable price!) & grilled Miso Black Cod. I shared these items with my aunt and we were both able enjoy all the delicious food. Excellent food and very fresh, quality sashimi. Toro hands down… if you know, you know!
I came here to celebrate with some friends over an omakase lunch. We opted for the $125 tasting omakase, which came with about 15 courses. We were served a pretty large variety of fish courses for this price. I was impressed that they served oysters, uni, and scallop for this price point. Our favorite courses included a seared salmon/scallop sushi, tuna tartare, monkfish liver, and hamachi (yellowtail) sashimi. Overall, this is one of the better omakase experiences I’ve had in the LA area. There was a large variety and good quality ingredients prepared in a creative way. I would highly recommend coming for a special occasion! I will definitely be back!
Came here to celebrate a new job and we were not disappointed. Both of us ordered the premium chirashi bowl. The uni was fresh and sweet. The sweet shrimp was excellent and our server gave us the option to fry the head or have it be used in a miso soup. Both were delicious options. The rest of the fish was fresh and flavorful. Overall, the quality of the fish was well worth the price. Our servers were attentive and we had a wonderful time. 10/10, would return again.
Shin-Sen-Gumi is a dynamic and innovative business dedicated to providing an exceptional dining experience that celebrates the rich traditions of Japanese cuisine. With a focus…
If you're diving into the flavorful world of Shin-sen-gumi in Alhambra, you're in for a treat! The skewer selection offers a hearty mix, perfect for those who enjoy picking and choosing from a variety. From chicken and beef to delightful veggies, each skewer packs a punch of authentic taste. While the size might not be as filling as you’d expect, it’s a great way to sample multiple flavors without feeling overloaded. Plus, pairing it with a donburi makes for a satisfying meal that gets you both variety and volume. Definitely a must-try for any local or visitor wanting to taste a bit of Japan!
I’ve tried several Shin-Sen-Gumi locations, and this one is definitely my favorite! The tall ceilings paired with lantern decorations make you feel like you’ve stepped into Japan. The chefs prepare piping hot skewers of delicious barbecue right on the spot, and the passionate, attentive service left a great impression on us. This restaurant is well-known for its grilled skewers, so we ordered tender and perfectly cooked beef chunks, flavorful chicken meatballs, and fresh jumbo scallops — all of which were absolutely delicious! As for the udon, I found the soup base a bit on the sweeter side for my taste, but the stir-fried udon had a wonderfully chewy texture that I really enjoyed!
I liked their chicken hearts and grilled shrimp, but unfortunately the rest of the skewers we had were overcooked. Portions were tiny as well. However, I loved that they let us do the unlimited sake tasting. We managed to taste a few, and picked the 750ml Platinum bottle (which is a limited edition), and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Overall, it is not a bad place when you want varieties or something to nibble on the Main Street. Service was fast!

Delicious poke bowl. Perfectly even in the distribution of ingredients. This is my top poke bowl I have ever had. I got the spicy salmon, I'm looking forward to trying what else they have here. The price of poke is always $$ but I am okay with this bowl of poke because the quantity was legitim okay
We've been coming here for years. Super Fresh Food and all the sauces are amazing. I always get a regular combination bowl and musubi. The staff is very nice and helpful if you have questions. Oh, and the inside is super cute. Whales!
I’ve been eating at Pokestuf for over 3 years! It’s my favorite poke place. The options and flavors and consistency are unmatched. Also the workers are very professional and kind!

All You can eat buffet 27$ include salat, drinks, and even desert I like the freah sea food Cook on the grill for you, just pick the aea foos ans vegetables I dont like the other buffet or sushi, as its not real fresh Sushi have to be fresh, to consume immediately.. Without siting waiting on the shelf
Had lunch, price included drinks! The Mongolian style grill had a good marinade and was good. Broccoli Beef was tough. The Korean BBQ beef had some undercooked pieces. Salad bar was awesome, especially the fruit- papaya, pineapple, melons. Sushi was good! I prefer sashimi and there was plenty! Frog legs? Yes please! Most of the hot foods were fresh! Had dessert like Che Sam Bo Luong, seaweed lychee drink! Grilled prawns were excellent! Wait staff were prompt and friendly. Would go again!
This place is awesome...I haven't been to a bigger place and the seafood crawfish and crab legs keep coming unlike other places.b

1st time here. 3/21/24 Wow, wow wow!!! The "las carnitas ramen" was delicious!!! I'm so coming back for more. Back again on 2/25/25 - still the same deliciousness!!!
Oct 2024 update: Nakazo has removed all rice balls except for the Spam musubi. They have been replaced with sushi rolls that are 2 to 3 times the price of the previous rice balls. I have ordered the sushi roll and the amount of food you get is very similar to the rice ball (about 4-5 pieces per order) yet more than double the price. They actually taste a bit worse because the sushi has very thick rice layers. Because of this new update I have changed my review from 5 stars to 3. The Spam musubi still remains at the previous price point and is still good, but the other rice balls were my preferred items as they were more unique and better to eat than just spam and a thick slab of rice. I am not sure why they removed such a popular item from their menu, but I am likely not coming back anymore now. Is it crazy to have come to a ramen restaurant multiple times over the years and have never ordered the ramen itself? Then I remember I'm having amazing rice balls/omusubi and sides that I stop worrying about it. The rice balls are very fresh, very filling, and very good! The furikake seasoning on the rice is plentiful so it doesn't taste dull, and the fillings/toppings are generous. These are not the cold rice balls you see at Japanese markets. They are at least twice as good, and less than twice the price. Their poke bowl is also actually quite good. I also enjoy the chicken karaage and fried brussel sprouts. I keep meaning to try the ramen, but always get pulled away by the other things! Sometimes I'll have enough will power to stop myself, haha. This is a gem of a restaurant hidden in a small strip mall off the highway. It's such a weird place for a great Japanese restaurant. I can only hope they stay open for a long time so I can keep eating here.
This place used to be one of our top ramen spots. Perfectly cooked eggs, good chashu, and reasonably priced for LA. Recently they switched to weird flat noodles that just…don’t taste right. Bring back the normal noodles and I’ll be back.

Went for my son’s birthday and it was fantastic. Great sushi, but honestly the best service experience we’ve had in a long time. Kevin was our server and he did an excellent job taking care of our table. 5 star review and 2 big thumbs up for the great service from Kevin.
This restaurant has a very modern vibes, and there is bar inside the restaurant. We came here during happy hour. We were being seated right away. We ordered yellowtail sashimi, spider roll, and golden tiger roll. The yellowtail sashimi was very juicy and fresh. The spider roll was perfectly made as the soft shell crab is crispy and well season. The golden tiger is a disappointment in this meal. There is nothing special about it. Also, the cream cheese and spicy mayo does not seem to match. They use a robot to deliver food. That's a smart way of using new technology. Parking could be busy, as this restaurant is in the same plaza with Sprouts. Another negative side was that I saw a guy wear chef uniform sitting at the very first table at the entrance eating Jolibee. I suggested that should happen maybe more of a hidden table in the back. As this did not look good to customers.
Good lunch spot if you're shopping in the area. The presentation for the chirashi "bowl" was pretty nice. The kids at my table ate up all their salmon teriyaki and California roll that was part of the bento box combo, so it must've been good! The shrimp tempura got soggy though in the udon soup, but it was still tasty. Special prices with everything 30% off before 5pm. The place is under new management, so I have no experience with what it was like before Dec 2024. Overall, it was decent sushi and Japanese food for the price.

The new renovations make this place look pretty modern. Except for the bathrooms, the didn't renovate that, still sketchy with graffiti. The new look is nice but the old way also has its low light charm. Food was fantastic, the service was great. My only criticism about the food we order is that the edamame had too much salt on it and the jalapeno cheese appetizer was too spicy. Maybe I'm just weak but it was a straight up uncooked jalapeno. The sushi was all perfect. I'll definitely be going back for the all you can eat.
Let me start by saying I do not like All you can eat sushi. Food: Just ok, not quality sushi Portions: Small, you have to order multiple orders of the same Price: Expensive $30-50 per person Service: Decent Atmosphere: Feels like a regular restaurant than a shshi, not Japanese style, but more simple tables and booths. I'm not a fan of all you can eat sushi places because generally they do not use quality products. And this place is no different. I actually did not know until I stepped inside, because they just took over a previous Japanese restaurant. Since I went with two of my nephews, I guess they can eat regardless of the quality. I picked the wrong day to go I guess. Payday holiday price of $40 per person. The food quality is not that great. It's just decent, it's not great. But taste is ok. Much better than the one in West Covina. Portions are small. We order double of everything. The spider roll, not sure how much spider do they put in that row, because the crab itself is larger than the rule. Looks like they cut a soft shell crab into three pieces before they make one roll out of it. The dragon roll, the eels are sliced very thin. Looks like the knife scale of the chef is quite good. Price it's not cheap for what it is. Most likely I will probably spend the same amount if I go to a better restaurant, I would have less food in quantity but I certainly can get better quality food in return. I was with my nephews and I'm sure they don't know quality vs quantity. Atmosphere: the design and there does not seem like it's a Japanese restaurant, the previous restaurant looks a lot more Japanese. It's a simple table and Booths, but I do not see much Japanese decoration. Then again I'm not there for the decoration. Overall I'm still not a fan of all you can eat sushi. I much rather have quality food. For the price of what it is now, that's pretty expensive for what it is.
Went here with some friends and tried all of their premium menu. The quality of the food was great and we definitely ate our fill of food. The service was prompt, and food came out fairly fast. Almost too fast for how much we ordered. Overall, great place to try out in Alhambra for all you can eat sushi.

As soon as I walked in , I felt welcomed. I was seated right away , the staff was very attentive , the food came out rather quickly , good portions. I’d recommend the Baja roll and yellowtail delight. Octopus nigiri was my favorite of the night , def coming back. Love the food , atmosphere & people.
I regret coming here for their AYCE lunch. The sushi was of poor quality, with mushy rice that lacked flavor. Although the service was okay, the table was very sticky, making me hesitant to place my phone on the surface. I ordered some hand rolls and sushi rolls, but they were disappointing. The only saving grace was the udon noodle; the broth was flavorful, and the udon was perfectly chewy. Unfortunately, this experience was not worth it. It’s sad to see such longtime Alhambra Japanese restaurant going down this road with its food.
We came in a group of 5. The services was very very quick. The restaurant was fairly empty for being a big venue. They have happy hour beer for $1.99. We ordered like 8 rolls and a bunch of sides. All the food came out quick, took about 15 minutes. We had multiple servers catering to us, and very accommodating. All you can eat for dinner is $39.99 ea but well worth it. They even had sashimi on the menu. All the food was great and well portioned and a variety of food to choose from the menu. Definitely going to come back. Unfortunately there was no desserts on the all you can eat menu.

Love this place! Good music while you’re dining or drinking! Everything is fresh and well prepared! Maggie is the best Host/Waitress! She’s friendly and efficient! The Chef’s Jay and Yung are awesome! They really know their craft! Kudos to whoever hired this crew!
Came in to try our the sushi woth 30% off 3 to 5:30 and was not disappointed. Our sever was very attentive and helpful her name yoyo and couldn't have done better. We had crunchy dragon and godzilla roll and both were delicious but imo the godzilla was just a tad better. The restaurant was clean and had a good environment so I have no complaints and I will recommend this place to friends and family and you as well.
Overall experience is pretty good, but each time I've been they add stuff to your order. Not exactly sure why but I feel like it's done on purpose in order to control what you buy. Too bad. They have potential.

Sushi is fresh and good but overpriced af. What's crazy is I can get a tastier chirashi bowl with bigger portions for 2/3 the price in San Francisco! Also their miso soup is way too salty. I didn't come here to eat salt. This place feels pretentious, would not come back IMO.
Either I’m broke or prices went up real high! Ordered mussel udon! Big portions but more soup than udon, flavor is ok 3.5/5 Cute decorations and plenty of different areas to seat!
This was our first time visiting WA Sushi & Izakaya and it won’t be the last. The waiting staff was exceptional from start to finish. They were very welcoming and attentive ensuring that our dining experience was nothing short of excellent. The service was quick and efficient, with both food and drinks promptly delivered to my table. The staff's knowledge of the menu items, both drinks and food, was impressive. They were able to offer insightful recommendations and answer any questions I had, adding to the overall enjoyment of the evening. Now let's talk about the food—the highlight of any dining experience. The Baja and Fantasy rolls were truly outstanding and quickly became my favorites. The combination of flavors and textures was a delight to the palate. The Pan Fried Pork Dumplings were another standout, perfectly cooked and bursting with delicious flavors. The Beef Teriyaki had a tantalizing sauce that enhanced the tender meat, leaving me wanting more. The Truffle Salmon Sashimi was a unique and delightful treat, with the truffle adding a touch of decadence to the delicate fish. The Seared Ahi Tuna was impeccably prepared, beautifully seared on the outside and melt-in-your-mouth tender on the inside. The Mixed Vegetable and Shrimp Tempura provided a delightful crunch and were a perfect accompaniment to the meal. Finally, the Eggplant with Yuzu was a refreshing and flavorful dish that added a vibrant touch to the overall dining experience. Overall, our visit to WA Sushi & Izakaya was truly memorable. The atmosphere, with its relaxing music, cherry blossoms, candles, and water feature, created a serene and authentic ambiance. The service was exceptional, with friendly and knowledgeable staff attending to every detail. And the food was simply outstanding, with standout dishes like the Baja and Fantasy rolls, Pan Fried Pork Dumplings, and Truffle Salmon Sashimi. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience that combines ambiance, service, and delectable cuisine.

Wonderful first time trying Omakase! Everything was purposefully, prepared and honored. We tried great, warm umami broths and then had amazing fresh and aged fish. It was so fun trying all the dishes and Chef Fumi and Shin were so nice to talk with, they made it a fun atmosphere. We loved learning about the different dishes. It was for my birthday and I would say it’s great for a special occasion and culinary experience. The dishes and presentation was so nice too! We loved the sake choices too! Thank you for a wonderful meal :)
I came here for lunch omakase over 6 months ago and still think about this place! The chefs were friendly, service was wonderful, the restaurant itself was clean and had a nice calming vibe, and the sushi was everything you would want in an omakase experience. I personally like simple flavors and not too many sauces that distract from the fish, and each course, I thought was perfect. any flavors were perfect compliments to bring out the natural freshness and taste of the fish. I didn’t feel like any course was a “filler” course, we kept saying each one that came out was our favorite. I have had many omakase experiences where I left feeling unsure whether it was worth the price but this place was absolutely worth every penny. I only wish I lived closer! Thank you for such a wonderful experience.
An incredibly intimate omakase experience. Chef Fumi provided a memorable night, regaling the table with stories and creating delicate pieces for us to enjoy. The toro and sea urchin stood out from the vast array of dishes presented, but it was hard to pick a favorite
