We are traveling and stumbled upon this amazing Japanese food. Miso soup was a hit!!!! They do t do it that good in Florida. We have been here 3x now. The drinks are very good. Taste and strength! I felt right at home. Good vibes, great food, superior service. You feel like a celebrity when you leave. Makes you want to turn around and come back in. It was the whole experience for me.
Surprisingly excellent sushi and cocktails in a dive bar adjacent setting. The overall feel was that of a typically oddly shaped bar/restaurant space in SF, but despite the dive'ish look, it was clean and the staff welcoming. Stop by here on Friday or Saturday for a live DJ. Otherwise, enjoy some great food and drinks with someone you like.

Wonderful experience. We opted for a bottle of sake and the gentleman allowed us to try four different ones to determine what we would like--how lovely is that?! Leonardo our sushi chef, was absolutely gifted as well as sweet and genuine. He made beautiful bites and we enjoyed 90% of them. He even substituted a dish for me since I'm not a fan of sea urchin, though I tried it again. I didn't need to do it twice in one evening. The place was great! The fish fresh! Would definitely come back! Also lovely ambiance.
Absolutely a must visit in San Francisco. The menu and flow is well paced and relaxing yet, doesn’t leave you hanging for the next dish. Presentation is elegant and every bite was so fresh. The servers are very well trained and versed in the origins of each offering. Our favourite was the Hokkaido scallop with uni and the chawan mushi with smoked trout caviar. The wine menu is small but superbly curated. Sake menu is extensive. Well worth the price for a wonderful experience
We had an amazing experience here last night for my birthday. This is a tightly run ship, with coordinated seatings and a beautiful ambiance. The bathroom is even beautiful with a bidet and a pleasant scent (I know, but it was impressive). The full omakase was almost too much food for me, with 3 courses of 4 bites of sushi plus so much more. The drink pairings were pricey so instead I recommend the sake flight. They surprised us with a candle and card to celebrate my birthday, with a gift of a little yuzu soda to take home! I even left my purse at the restaurant on accident and they called me within 5 minutes to come back for it. It’s an expensive night out but if it’s a special occasion they will make it worthwhile.

We sincerely appreciate your warm hospitality in hosting our boss and our team. The endless flow of drinks and the abundance of delicious food filled our stomachs beyond capacity, leaving us truly grateful for your generosity. Your kindness and effort in making us feel welcome did not go unnoticed, and we deeply appreciate the time and care you put into ensuring everyone had a wonderful time. Thank you once again for your exceptional hospitality. We truly enjoyed every moment.
Chef Julio and his staff gave us one of the most amazing dining experiences that my wife and I have experienced. We've been to hole in the walls to Michelin starred restaurants, and this place has topped all of those experiences. You can see how much Chef Julio loves/enjoys his craft. He took his time to explain each dish in detail. Obviously, I was drunk with endorphins with each bite that I don't remember the names of all the pieces that we were pampered with. I did remember that each piece had different layers of flavors that never overpowered each other. They perfectly fused together in harmony. I overheard another patron say he just returned from Japan, and this place beats the quality there. I personally can't confirm that, but I can seriously say my wife enjoyed it so much. She told me we're ONLY coming back here for Omakase and nowhere else. Thank you, Chef, and see you again soon.
Me and my friend absolutely love this place!! The service is great and the food we had was beyond delicious. Lot of their raw fish just melt in your mouth right away, we asked the server for the recommendations and we ordered the ones they suggested and we love them all! We ordered a lot more but was so focusing on enjoying the food and only got a couple of pictures. Will definitely come back again for the fresh and delicious sushi!!
Saru Sushi Bar is a premier dining destination that brings the authentic flavors of Japan to your neighborhood. Nestled in a vibrant locale, our sushi bar offers a diverse menu…
Saru hits the mark for what you would expect SF sushi to be like - excellent. The fish is FRESH, rich in flavor, and soft as butter. The tiny space is clean, well decorated with authentic beautiful Japanese plates and serving pieces. And the staff is working hard as a team to take great care of everyone.
Oh my God! That describes Sarah Sushi bar. Since I’ve visited Japan, I found it very difficult to find good or great sushi. This place has both. And their service, they provide detailed information with a friendly demeanor. The food was unique and the fish exceptionally fresh. The sake was divine. It’s a small place so you wait, but it’s worth every minute. I don’t live in San Francisco, but now I can tell you every time I’m there Sara sushi bar will be my first stop. Kudos to your brilliance.
Been wanting to try Saru for some time now and finally decided to go during the weekday. We arrived at the restaurant at 5:30 and there was already a line waiting outside the restaurant. Would recommend coming a little bit earlier so you can get in during the first seating. The fishes are very fresh. The nigiri are well seasoned and no need to dip the soy sauce. The quality is pretty similar to some restaurant in Japan.
Ozumo San Francisco is a premier dining destination that offers an exceptional fusion of traditional Japanese cuisine and contemporary culinary artistry. Located in the heart of…
I sat at Ozumo for a solo lunch date and what an amazing experience. Everyone was super friendly and professional. Luke, my server was the best! He helped me pick out some items off the menu and all of his suggestions were DELICIOUS! The fish is so fresh. The wagyu nigiri is to die for! The Giddy Geisha?… give me 14 more please!! lol The host(unfortunately I can’t remember her name) even stopped by to check in on me and make sure I was doing ok. Just a great experience overall. Would definitely recommend this place and will definitely be stopping by whenever I’m in town.
Despite not having a reservation, we were able to walk in and find a table. It was our first visit, and we were warmly greeted and seated in the main dining room. The waitress promptly arrived with menus and offered us drinks. The food was excellent, with the exception of the tuna tartare, which lacked a strong tuna flavor and was overwhelmed by other ingredients. I particularly enjoyed the Ozumo Unagi and Shrimp Tempura rolls. The atmosphere was pleasant, and everything appeared clean and tidy. Overall, we had a positive experience. While the nigiri and sashimi offerings seemed a bit overpriced compared to some other restaurants, they were still delicious. I would definitely return for the rolls.
Great experience overall besides the $10 water! Bring your own water or ask specifically for tap water (i thought “still water” was free) Fish was creamy and fresh, and I especially liked the otoro and gindara (miso black cod). Food was served decently fast and well-timed.
