Kanpai is a vibrant and innovative dining establishment that celebrates the rich traditions of Japanese cuisine while embracing contemporary culinary techniques. Our mission is…
An unfortunate experience. This restaurant is probably just fortunate that people don’t know the food could be better. We really looked forward to enjoying many of the items on the menu but the restaurant was so busy we ordered Takeout; Agedashi Tofu, Hamachi Kama, salmon nigiri, tempura etc. What was served as the Agedashi Tofu was absolutely not how this dish is typically prepared. Fried, thin slices of firm tofu? The batter was hard and chewy. The soup base for the tofu and the dipping sauce for the Tempura were in confusing containers for the portion sizes needed. We ordered two servings of rice; what we received was a portion enough for one bowl and it had soy sauce on parts of the rice, like it was leftover rice or had been used for something else. The order of Rainbow Roll had been packaged to-go, but someone drizzled Soy Sauce on top so when we got home (5 minutes away) the rice was all soggy, and the rolls fell apart. The Hamachi Kama was decent - I’d say a little dry but it had good flavor. The most disappointing was the Nigiri which had most likely been prepared hours in advance but left out without being covered, so the fish was dried out and had no rich umami flavor. Overall, incredibly disappointing especially for the $200 price point our order totaled. I’d strongly recommend taking better care of your ingredients, packing orders to go properly so they arrive fresh and not soggy. I’d rethink the Agedashi tofu dish and please use medium-firm tofu… If someone orders rice please don’t pour soy sauce on top.
It’s been several years since I’ve been here. Had a guest from out of town due to a family emergency and wanted to make a bad day better. It was later in the evening and we were finally relaxed after a massage. Called to be courteous and ask if 8:30 was too late as they were closing at 9. The manager went into detail about how they were short staffed and really wanted to close early. We asked if take out would be okay and he reluctantly said yes. Both settled on a $35 poke bowl each. Paid the $70 and gave them a tip as he reminded us what an inconvenience this was. I asked if his name was on the receipt so we could thank him in a review, he gave an awkward look in the bag and said yes. Once home, we opened the containers to find about 1/3c of poke mix, 1/3c seaweed, and a handful of stale chips. I understand prices have increased, but not to this level. When I called to say we were not okay with the order and I would like to come to an agreement, he said they have an old POS system and he was only able to refund the entire amount. I said I did not want that and also wanted to leave the tip for the staff. He said again that could not be done. He literally told me that he would have to refund the entire amount and not to worry - he would “deal with the repercussions” and reminded me that they went out of their way to make sure we got food at all, even though they didn’t have a dishwasher. I wish he had said no to us getting an order at all and we had not had this bad experience to cap off a sad day. Too bad the reviews on Bend Foodies Facebook group and other sites are true - I didn’t want to believe my once fav is now a permanent memory, but I refuse to be treated this way. Still don’t know Dude’s name because we never got that receipt he pretended to glance at in the bag…
We came in right at opening time, so we were able to snatch a spot at the bar. The service was amazing, and the food was great. My wife loves uni, but they were sold out. However, some time later, the chef surprised us with an order of uni. And it was on the house!

This restaurant is visually pleasing, the ceiling is absolutely beautiful. The service could have been better, but it doesn't take much away from my experience here. The food was incredible. I recommend the spider roll, the eel sauce is divine. The edemame was spicier than expected, but very delicious nonetheless.
Great find tonight for dinner! Place is super cute and clean. Bright and airy. Cool water feature suspended from the ceiling. Service was stellar. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Food was amazing. Sushi is fresh and flavorful. Steak was delicious. Appetizers were delightful. All around great experience!
The sushi was delicious, but the service could’ve been better. It was really busy and we waited like an hour to get our food. It was a Saturday night so I understand it gets busy.

This review is long overdue as I have probably eaten here 20 times now, but I can say that Maki Maki is consistently delicious and some of the most legit sushi you will find here in Bend. The rice-to-fish ratio is spot on (they don’t use a ton of rice on their rolls) so you really taste the flavor of the sushi as opposed to just filling up on rice. My favorite rolls are the Edison and Sunshine rolls, both of which are gluten-free. They have also accommodated a GF salmon poke bowl, which had a delicious sweet sauce and loads of fish. Be sure to check them out at The Lot if you’re in the area!
Maki Maki Sushi is a fantastic spot in Bend, Oregon, and it’s dog-friendly, which makes it even better! They have inside seating, perfect for those cold winter days when you want to enjoy fresh sushi without braving the elements. The sushi is always fresh and flavorful, with a wide variety to choose from. The staff are warm and welcoming, not just to us but also to our pup, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. If you’re looking for great food, a cozy atmosphere, and a place that welcomes your furry friends, Maki Maki Sushi is the place to go. Highly recommend!
Got sushi from here for my birthday and everything tasted AMAZING! Easily the best sushi in Bend. The volcano roll was my favorite, and the Edison was a close second. The burrito roll may seem a little menacing, but tasted surprisingly fresh and had a great selection of ingredients!

‘Twas the night before Veterans Day, and all the townspeople were hidden indoors; for the weather had turned cold and gloomy. We found our way into a quaint sushi parlor near downtown called Sora sushi. When we opened the door, we saw not one person was dining in. At first it was an ominous sight, but shortly one of the many chefs sat us down and we soon felt right at home. Almost as if we had hot tub time machined our way back to the early 50’s in Japan. I spent the better part of the summer on the ocean fishing for the very tuna we’d be eating tonight. Early morning and late nights on the ocean, miles from nowhere. Dangerous work it is. Rocking in the waves, splashing over the deck, and I’m back there hand-lining thousands of blast grade tuna. Praying I won’t get swept into the abyss. It seems it was all worth it. Sora really outdid themselves with this sushi tonight. I’d give it a try. It’s nice we can all break bread now one nation under God. God Bless America, and God bless our veterans.
Update 1/25. Still awesome What a great sushi bar for a fast meal. The conveyor belt style allows for immediate service. There is also a full custom menu too. Excellent place for someone looking to try sushi for the first time or try new things. Sushi was good with several different varieties. Lots of fun drinks to try, and the happy hour looked great. Atmosphere was fun and inviting that is also family friendly. Prices were reasonable.
We got here just before 3 in time for the conveyor belt of food. We ate to our ❤️s content and could stop when we're full and not have leftovers. IG @bonez_n_gabby Good prices even on main dishes Will be back 11-3

My boyfriend and I have been to Kobe Sushi Bar 4 times now, and each visit has been a delightful experience. The staff are incredibly personable, kind, and funny—they make every effort to ensure your experience is perfect, paying close attention to every detail. The prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality. The ingredients are always fresh, and the sushi rice literally melts in your mouth. Beyond the sushi, their other dishes are packed with protein, and the marinade is exceptional—an amazing balance of flavors. This place has quickly become one of our favorites!
Fast and friendly service, the sushi was great too. We had the Volcano, Rainbow, and Lobster rolls. Our kids split the chicken hibachi and tempura veggies. Everything was great! We will definitely be back.
What a great hole in the wall sushi place!! My birthday lunch was amazing!!! I got a Birthday Roll, the Pilot Butte Roll, cheese wontons and Beef Hibachi, and dessert was a lovely new one for us!! Fried banana ice cream!!!

Ive been here many times and have never had a negative experience. The food is fresh and incredible in flavor. My personal favorite is the spider roll. The gyoza is nice and crispy, and the fried calamari is always a favorite appetizer for my family. The customer service is great, everyone is so kind. The green tea is also really good. By far one of the best sushi restaurants in central Oregon.
Hillary, our server was great! She explained the different types of ramen and made recommendations. She was spot on, the food was GREAT!
Shinsei Sushi is my go to when I feel the urge to eat sushi! Friendly staff and service. I try 1-2 new rolls each time I go. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a sushi restating to eat at.

This place is wonderful. Our server was named Sam he was helpful and polite and carried a smile on his face. The food was 10/10. We recommend the Ryoshi roll, the Sunset roll, gyoza for appetizer had the spicy tuna roll and a crab and Eel Nigiri. The food was incredible. The taste was amazing and definitely worth coming back.
I have lived in Bend for 8 years and have been underwhelmed with the sushi until now. You know the fish you are getting is fresh and worth the price. I have been back 3 times in a month. Service is great and love the atmosphere and convenience.
Get the sunset roll! Best roll I’ve ever had. Everything was PHENOMENAL! And their hand rolls are authentic (not the Americanized cone), with super fresh fish! Some is even imported from Japan! We added a quail egg and it was wonderful. Miso soup was fabulous, toasted rice in the green tea, also the mochi green tea ice cream. Excellent all around, service people were super sweet and attentive too.

This place is phenomenal! The service is top knotch giving that Japanese hospitality and it has all of the Izakaya favorites you would expect one to have. THE RAMEN THOUGH!! I got the veggies and my boyfriend got the pork #3 and both were some of the cleanest and flavorful broths I have ever had , in the US or Japan. An unassuming gem in Bend! Definitely coming back and recommending to people.
The restaurant has a really nice atmosphere the decor is nicely decorated. The food was excellent. If you like ramen noodles, this is the place to go The waitress was very friendly and pleasant.
Decided to stop at this cute Japanese restaurant after a hike. The food was fresh and hot, the shrimp yakisoba noodles were amazing. My boyfriend had the black pepper ramen, he did mention it didn't have a lot of flavor. We had fried dumplings as an appetizer, they were amazing. The best thing about this restaurant was the service, the couple was so kind and patient with my 5 year old. They checked on us periodically to make sure we had everything we needed. Will definitely be stopping by again.

Not your typical sushi bar atmosphere but that is all part of the fun. The food is great - fresh fish and amazing udon noodles. Grateful for this small but mighty spot.
When people say this is one of the best sushi joints in Bend there is no exaggeration. Such clean, fresh and simple sushi. An amazing experience to get some great sushi and a beer in the sun. What I personally enjoy is that there is no spicy mayo or an overuse of sauces. The texture from the veggies is a nice touch for me too. Such a treat!
Wonderful sushi made by wonderful humans! We are always happy with the delicious food we receive from Juno. In our opinion this is the best Sushi and Bend. Can’t recommend enough!

New upstairs Bend location not at all convenient for handicapped people (I am) and today I along with 75+ other people had to stand 45 minutes in the freezing rain to get our concert tickets. A covered 200 ft walkway is directly in front of ticket office yet employees refused to allow us to wait under it, insisting we stand outside in the freezing cold and rain. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE while we enrich TicketBastard with high service fees….
The shop is fun, well-laid out, and friendly. The tee shirt I bought for a gift was just what I was looking for, but when I got home, it didn't fit. Emily, the manager, was very responsive to my problem. Because I live out of state, she was willing to swap sizes through the mail to exchange the shirt for a different size. Awesome customer service.
Great little store in the Old Mill with tons of Bend stickers, t-shirts, and the like. But the BEST thing is no huge ticket fees on shows at the amphitheater!!! We went to 3 shows at Hayden Homes Amphitheater this summer and bought all the tickets here and literally saved hundreds of dollars! Also, if you’re giving tickets as a gift, they’ll print out the old school tickets for you or send them electronically, either way. We enjoyed having analog tickets for a change. Look better in the ol’ scrapbook too.

Our server was friendly & cheerful. Food was good, portion in smaller side. Bit strange that the Asian female mgr/staff gave us the bill b4 we finished, we paid & tipped well, she didn't say thx & didn't even notify our server we paid, so server asked us to pay when we were leaving. Bit awkward.
I love this place! It is one of my must stop to visit places in Bend. Food was perfect and the prices were not bad, or pricy. The staff was pretty fast and the chefs did an amazing job. Most of their stuff is gluten free and they use gluten free soy sauces in their house sauces! That is one of the reasons why i chose them and I was so happy that i could get Chicken Teriyaki and not worry about gluten!
Dropped $80 on some very basic sushi. Worst service I have had maybe ever. When I asked a question about a roll that I didn’t think had fish eggs, the server literally turned and LAUGHED at the other server. Didn't offer to remake it, just laughed and ignored the question. The other server just told me she has never seen the roll without fish eggs and walked away. we got there 30 minutes before the closed, made sure to ask if it was okay to ve seated still, and then ordered within 5 minutes because the server was standing at our table the entire time we were looking over the menu. Then when they asked if we wanted anything else because they were closing, one of the servers came over and said we had plenty to eat and were fine. When we were paying the server was stood over me staring at the screen watching my choose a tip option. I have never felt more pushed out of the restaurant. Wish I could turn back time and not have given them my business. They clearly didn’t want it..

I like coming to CHI for sushi and cocktails. Their spicy margarita with avocado was really good, and the sushi was tasty. Wish they were open for lunch. Prices are a little high but the food was good! I would definitely come back!
If I could give this establishment 10 ⭐️s I would! From the ambience, decor, food, was a solid 10 out of 10. Everything we ordered was phenomenal. Our server seemed to be having an ‘off’ day but aside from that it was a most enjoyable dining experience. The varied flavor profiles were so exceptional. We made reservations for our next visit already!
Great food and great service! Spent over $100 but it only seemed right because I had to take some to go! Haha probably coming back soon! Vibes where right and they have cool bar

Fire. Roux is the best employee here by far, maybe the best employee anywhere. Five star service all around. She prepared an amazing poke bowl super fast and she was nice. I tipped a generous amount and so should you. In my opinion, she should be promoted to manager as soon as possible. This establishment is blessed to have such an outstanding employee.
I have been coming to Poke Row for 4ish years. Everything here is amazing, and service is fast with kind employees. Thanks for fueling me through a Bachelors and now a Doctorate degree! You all rock.
You will not regret visiting here! This is some of the most delicious poke I’ve had. I’m addicted, now going once weekly. Generous portions, great customer service. What more can you ask for? Make sure to be adventurous and try different sauces! That’s where all the flavor comes from. I love mixing spicy ponzu and sesame soy together over spicy tuna, salmon and yellowfin.

I can't believe I haven't written a review yet because we've been coming here for at least 8 years. It is the most authentic Japanese food in Bend and it's so comforting and homey. This is our favorite place to get food in the whole town. Everything is made fresh and arranged so carefully and with thought, and balanced with tiny bits of veggies and radish pickle. We almost always do take out because the restaurant is open for lunch, and it's a work day lunch for us. However, there are a few counter seats inside and a picnic table outside. Arigato gozaimasu, Yuki and team, for taking such good care of us all these years! We are fans forever!
Were you disappointed by the Japanese food at the supermarket? If you're going to eat authentic and delicious Japanese food, this is definitely the place! They are very particular about the taste and have plenty of food. I couldn't finish it, so I took the rest home. Above all, I was very impressed by the heartwarming service of the staff. They made small riceball and made miso soup with a slightly diluted taste for my children. I would definitely like to visit again!
Love this place!!! Yuki and her staff cook wonderful food and it’s always such a pleasant experience when I eat there. And I eat there weekly! Vegan dishes available, too.

I came here for my birthday and had the best experience. Their service was entertaining and interactive, with the chef squirting sake and tossing food into our mouths. The food was amazing. My favorite is always the sushi, I didn't have a particular favorite. Everything was very well made.
This place is an amazing vibe, and the most delicious food! Totally worth the money and you get served an experience to remember for a life time. I love ordering take out from them as well, they always send me with great portion sizes, fresh, hot food and quality.
The food was delicious. Good portions for price. Great service and dinner. You still need reservations for Hibachi section. The lady was so cool she had a spot available for us anyway.
