Food was amazing. Price was super affordable and the staff were very friendly. Definitely one of the better sushi spots in town. Will come again!!!
The food was really good. Went there for my cousin’s birthday and also to spend time with family before we head back to Philly.
I really like thid sushi spot. A friend brought me for my birthday and just got to treat myself. Never disappoints.

I enjoyed this place very much with its comfortable layout, well spaced seating and excellent food. Katana serves sushi, teriyaki, ramen noodles and Asian food, owned and operated (according to my local sources) by a Chinese family. The inside décor is not ornate and gives one a comfortable at home feeling. The service was excellent, and food delivery was prompt, and the waitress was very courteous and helpful. I especially enjoyed the lunch special tender beef teriyaki which came with a ginger sauce salad; the plating was excellent. Seafood lovers should consider the Sushi and Sashimi combo or the Grand Katana Boat, both of which are beautifully presented on a wooden boat serving tray. One member of my party had the sliced eel over rice with a soy based sauce which was thoroughly enjoyed. For dessert, the mango sticky rice was excellent with sweetened coconut milk and homemade sugar and mango. The pricing was reasonable. Definitely a great place to eat with a family friendly atmosphere.
The food here is amazing. They have a vast sushi selection along with a large variety of dishes. My personal favorites are the spicy edamame and spicy ramen. I haven’t left out of here disappointed yet!
Katana is my favorite restaurant. The food is amazing. The sushi rice is delicious, the seaweed melts in your mouth, and the maki rolls are very beautiful. I will come back.

I come here a lot for solo lunches and it’s always a vibe. Staff is always nice, food and drinks is always good. The presentation of the food adds to the experience and it’s an aesthetically pleasing spot, great for pics. My fave spot right now for lunch☺️
Wonderful food, amazing service, great presentation and beautiful setting. The service was top notch with a lot of extra touches. We celebrated my birthday here and they added a huge candle to our sushi platter, and a delicious dessert with a personalized hand written card! Can't wait to return and try more things on the menu! Highly recommend!.
Loved the decor and the sushi. I wasn't crazy about my dessert, but really only the matcha part. It was just entirely too much powder. The Flaming King Roll was a 10 out of 10, though. I also enjoyed their miso soup but forgot to snap a picture. The music was good and the atmosphere was great. I'll definitely be back.

The location of this sushi place definitely sets certain expectations. However, this is a very casual spot. The service is adequate, though not very welcoming. The food was good. They do offer a large menu with plenty of choices. If you're looking for a quick sushi meal in the area, this will do. Just don't go in expecting a fine dining experience.
I am not a sushi fan, but when I ate in this place as my family insisted, I can’t believe I loved every bite of it. It may have changed my perspective on Sushi forever. The sushi rolls have a thin layer of rice and big portions of other good stuff, which makes a big difference, not to mention all ingredients are super fresh.
Had a quiet dinner here with my daughter (we were staying at a nearby hotel). Service was excellent and the sushi was very good. The rolled sushi was very large with a lot of fish / filling to rice ratio. I would definitely come again.

It's been months since the last time I went there, but from what I remember it was really nice. I mainly just got the Poke Salad and various kinds of sushi though. Never actually had ramen or anything else. Still, it was delicious and the quality was awesome. One thing I would note is that if you get the Poke Salad to go, they put the soy sauce in a container rather than pouring it out into the bottom of the dish. Personally, I don't like that much salt lol. I'm sure you could probably ask them not to do that in the restaurant but if you don't know about it ahead of time... Anyway, the reason I don't go there anymore is just about the price difference between Akira Ramen and Harris Teeter(which is across the parking lot). If you want to go to a fancy Japanese restaurant and have a nice meal, obviously Akira is much better. Their prices aren't bad at all, but they can't compare to a grocery store. Especially not on a Friday, when you can get 10 pieces of spicy tuna roll for 5 dollars at Harris Teeter. The Poke Salad is actually cheaper at Akira Ramen though. Which is something to keep in mind. Even when you add in tip and tax, it's probably still cheaper, unless you're a generous tipper. If you weren't worried about tipping, I think the Poke Salad was 10 dollars the last time I went. Maybe 10.50, probably 11-something with tax. They also sell seaweed salad for 6 dollars, I think? Which is about the same price as Harris Teeter but I haven't compared the sizes. Their Poke Salad is almost only fish and some lettuce, with some tiny apple pieces. Harris Teeter has a bunch of rice, a little seaweed salad, some fish and some artificial crab mixed together in a relatively larger and heavier container. It will fill you up, but I think the ingredients are probably cheaper overall compared to Akira's version. My go-to order from Akira would be a Poke Salad, some type of sushi roll(6 pieces for about 4-6 dollars), and a seaweed salad. I like to mix the three together. The Poke Salad doesn't come with any wasabi, but that might just be because I didn't ask for it due to social anxiety lmao. Seriously, it's so hard for me to ask for stuff like that... But I think a lot of people are that way too. Also I'd be afraid it'd cost extra no matter what I asked for? Maybe other people would know.
Nothing great. Very basic and the veg rolls aren’t that great. The service isn’t great as they take a long time to get you your beer but your ramen comes earlier! expensive sake and nothing for happy hour. / typical chinese place
The gyoza was seared nicely, the vegetable spring rolls had little flavor, the shumai was flavorless and had no texture, the Black Dragon roll was awesome tasting, the Dynamite was basically white rice and tuna and the hot saki was good. The service was adequate.

I order from here all the time. It’s so good every time. I get salmon avocado and peanut avocado. Chef’s kiss. They don’t have an eat in option. It’s kinda hard to find parking around there.
Ordered on DoorDash. The rolls came nicely packaged with lots of ginger and wasabi on the side. Kind of disappointed because tuna didn’t taste very fresh. But the white sushi in the sushi dinner was so good. I wish I could know what kind of sushi it is so I can order them separately. Tiger roll has tuna and salmon inside and then eel and tuna and salmon on the outside. Tbh I think there were too much fish in one roll. But the eel was really good. I would like to order again but maybe just get eel and avocado roll and other rolls.
The best take out platter I have ever experienced. We ordered sushi and sashimi plate for 2. The taste also was amazing.

Food is good, tuna is the best grade. Love the roll selection but too many similar roll with similar fish just different sauce. The sushi race is really good, a good balance between sweet and sour. Unfortunately, it’s not a kids friendly place, no kids menu and not really any options for kids.
5/5 rating Price: $$-$$$ ($100 total for two people) Food: We ordered the salmon, eel, and yellowtail nigiri, who’s your daddy roll, classic spicy salmon roll, lunch special sashimi poke salad, and baked green mussels. Every dish was delicious. My favorite had to be the salmon nigiri and classic spicy salmon roll. The sushi was fresh, and the rolls had perfectly balanced flavors. Service: The waitress was attentive and friendly. Atmosphere/Ambience: The restaurant had a nice decor and cozy comfort vibe. The soft lighting created a relaxing atmosphere ideal for a date night or a casual meal.
Showed up hungry and left completely stuffed. The sushi is fantastic but the Rolls are on another level. Full of flavor, packed with fish and giant (not just stuffed with lots of rice. We ordered 5 rolls and it was enough food for 4 people to share. The “sure thing” was everyone’s favorite. It’s fantastic. We also ordered the R Lewis, Big Boss, black Dragon and Who’s your daddy.

Hands down, the BEST sushi place you could find near Baltimore! Their nigiri combos are all so amazing and fresh! We ordered out twice and dined in thrice, and were 1000% happy every time. If you want sushi that is just like what you would get in Japan, this is the place!
I do not often write reviews, but I feel compelled to write this one! First, I want to start with the service. I ordered online for pick up, so I cannot speak to the wait service, but I thought it was very thoughtful that the man who handed me my order arranged the handles for me to easily grab the bag from him. Everything was solidly packaged to avoid spillage, even down to a small piece of tape on the soup lid to make sure nothing splashes out! Next, the food! Everything was DELICIOUS, I had the salmon teriyaki and salmon skin roll lunch combo, which was a phenomenal price for the amount of food. I will absolutely be back!!
After missing breakfast and lunch, I stopped here on a whim for an early dinner. Definitely don't regret the decision, as both food and service were great. Quiet upper level makes for a relaxed dining experience, roll selection was amazing. Wouldn't get the gyoza again, though, as it was too crispy.

Easily some of the best sushi I’ve ever had! Everything tasted so fresh and delicious that I wished I had a bigger stomach. The unagi here is absolutely amazing and may have ruined all future unagi rolls for me. I’d also really like to highlight the baked mussels which had such a powerful punch of umami flavor to it. Packed on a weekday and for good reason. Service might have been a little slow but again PACKED and I saw like a dozen carry out orders while I was waiting. My only regret is not ordering more and then just getting a to-go box
My favorite go-to sushi restaurant in Maryland. The fish is super fresh and rice is perfectly cooked. Simple but delicious.
Food: The sushi here is so good. It's some of the best I've had since moving to Baltimore. My favorite (so far) is the R (Roll) Lewis. The unagi and soft shell crab are also wonderful. Service: The server was attentive, never letting our water run out. Our food came out quickly, and the extra roll we ordered before we left arrived fast and packaged well. Atmosphere: We didn't get to see the whole restaurant, as we sat near the entrance. The chair felt a bit uncomfortable. But other than that, the atmosphere was pleasant and inviting.

I ordered the yaki soba with shrimp and it was so good my bartender and server was very attentive to my requests. The food was great but not piping hot like I like it. I also liked my avocado cucumber rolls. I will be back.
I was excited to visit this place. We ordered the ramen, sushi, and gyoza. Ramen was clearly from a package - I think it was Shin Ramen as a ramen expert. Gyoza was average at best. I didn’t taste the sushi but I was told “it’s not good”. Sushi lover did not care to finish it. Service was bleh. Beer was great though! 18% auto gratuity which is kind of crazy. Won’t be going back.
The sushi was very good. We had the dynamite roll and spider roll. Both were very good.

This was our first time back since they did some renovations. We sat at the bar and ordered some sushi, udon and ramen soups. It all tasted pretty good and we especially enjoyed the Salmon skin roll.
Great atmosphere in the heart Fed Hill. The sushi was amazing. Started off with a house salad and the ginger dressing was great touch. The sushi tasted fresh and delicious. The salmon melted in my mouth. Highly recommend.
Matsuri is such a gem to have nearby. I've been a bunch of times but keep forgetting to review because I always leave in a daze before drifting home to pat my stomach for the rest of the night, lol. This is the only sushi place in Bmore I've been that does justice to ama ebi. The fried shrimp head takes me straight to heaven. ♥️ The sushi rolls are also so pristine in terms of structure + flavour. ✨ You'd be hard pressed to find a sloppy roll. The rice also has lovely chew + seasoning. I could eat all of Matsuri's sushi rolls without any soy or wasabi and be perfectly happy - they're that good. The tempura has amazing texture, but definitely needs the sauce to add flavour. The shrimp is better than the vegetable tempura, for my personal taste. The eel over rice is also so indulgent in texture and flavour. If you are with someone who doesn't like raw fish, this is a great choice for them. I don't think Matsuri is the spot to get random freebie slices like Kiku on Light Street, but I don't think you'll care since the quality is so top notch. This restaurant is on my frequent flyer list, especially if we are dining out with family. ✈️

This sushi spot is a real gem, offering a wide variety that’s sure to satisfy any sushi lover. The sakura-themed ambiance is charming and adds a cozy touch to the experience. For the price, it’s well worth it. The only small gripe is that the drinks could be a tad better, but overall, it’s a fantastic place to indulge in some quality sushi.
Absolutely love Yama they are one of the only places that makes soft crab correctly I've been to places that actually served me a raw softcrab they clean it cut it and the flavor is amaze. Shuami and shrimp dumplings are also good appetizers
Somehow we have never been to Yama. We are so glad to have finally gone. We went on a Friday evening and had a short 10-15 minute wait for a table. Once we were seated, everything was great. Our server was super nice, quick and great at helping with menu questions. The offered a nice small cucumber salad as a starter, then we ordered two appetizers. The Peppered Tuna was insanely good! Peppery and spicy, a perfect bite. Even the asparagus underneath was great. We also ordered the Shumai, delicious tiny pork dumplings, also quite good. For dinner, we ordered a few standard rolls and a few specialty rolls. The spicy tuna and spicy salmon were both very good. We ordered the Ocean roll, Supreme Roll, Green Dragon and the Bumblebee. Wow, they were all so good, perhaps the least impressive was the Green Dragon, not bad, just kinda bland. The other three were so good and impressed all 3 of us. We felt "not too full" after dinner so decided to sample a couple of the desserts. We got the fried cheesecake, it was ok, the cheesecake was good, the crust was not as good. We also got strawberry mochi and they were so tasty and the chewy coating was fun. Recommend. We look forward to coming back to Yama soon! My complaint to the owners of this restaurant is this: In 2024 to not have refills on soda is ridiculous. Everyone knows that soda is super cheap. Your $1.50 is a good price, but charge $2 and allow for refills.

Great atmosphere, only a few tables for seating. Rolls were fresh and HUGE. I prefer more cucumber in my rolls and these were lacking so not my favorite. But overall a solid experience.
I stopped here for dinner one night for some sushi. Service was slow but not overly so. I asked for ice in my water and it definitely tasted old. I ordered the shrimp tempura and eel avocado rolls. Both were large portions and tasted good! The prices were also pretty reasonable in my opinion!
The food was delicious but the portions are out of this world. One special roll per person is more than sufficient. Edamame was delicious. House salad fresh. Sushi itself was amazing and tasted great.

Went on a Saturday night before an evening at the Meyerhoff. Miso soup, edamame, and Super Bowl roll. Soup could have been hotter. We had just hit the last sixty minutes of happy hour. It became crowded quickly. Service was prompt and we were able to leave in time and walk to the Meyerhoff.
Very cool, chill sushi bar. Chill vibes as the restaurant has high ceilings with bright colors and unique art. Intimate tables or spots for groups, there is more seating in the back past the bar. Great happy hour specials on food and drinks. Excellent, chefs kiss menu that is authentic sushi and Japanese food. Delicious. The service was on point. I already can't wait to go back.
Seafood is big here in Baltimore, so I wanted to make sure I stopped by a few seafood and sushi restaurants. Minato was one of the highly touted sushi/happy hour restaurants in the city, so it was a no-brainer to go. Also, it was within walking distance from my sisters apartment, so that is an added bonus. I loved how the restaurant was decorated. It is huge despite what it looks like from outside. The restaurant is long and narrow *pause* and there are, what seems like, an infinite amount of seats there. The ceilings illuminate different colors, and the walls have a way blue pattern. The whole restaurant is extremely pleasing to the eye. From the decor to the color pallete, everything is gorgeous. The service was great. Our server Cherry was extremely attentive. At one point, my sister expressed displeasure with her drink, and Cherry was quick to make another right away to my sister's pleasure. I think the server was new, but was knowledgeable and extremely present. The happy hour menu is huge. There are a ton of options to choose from. We had quite the spread including: Edamame, Spring Roll, Shumai, Curry Chicken Dumpling, and the Rolex Sushi Roll. The food was decent, it is not the best sushi I ever had, but for the value, it is well worth it. Their prices for everything are great for your pockets, even the drinks are extremely cheap, which I find is a lost art in the happy hour game. I should mention, however, the drinks are not strong at all, so this isn't the place to get wasted when you had a bad day at work lol. Perfect hang out place for friend groups or a calm after work date.

Thank you for the amazing food.In the amazing service! I'm a little picky, but the waiter Roni was amazing to ensure that we had the best experience possible. I had the Poke Bowl and added pineapple to it, it was so good!! I also had Checkerboard Roll. I added cream cheese. Loved it!!! Thank you! The endless mimosas for $19.99 was on point! My friend loves the sliders as well. The fries were n9ce and crisp as well! I highly recommend this place. Love the fish tanks in the entrance as well!
I went here with 4 others and have never been more disappointed by a restaurant. We ordered two apps to start, the potstickers (6 small pieces for $21) and the chicken satay (4 small skewers for $21). The apps came shortly after our drinks arrived but we weren’t given any silverware or plates. Our server brought us silverware after we asked but said she was trying to find us plates still. We ended up eating all the apps before we were ever given small plates because we were tired of waiting. Next came out the entrees, or at least one of them. The shrimp tacos (a “main” for $25 came with three tiny tacos) arrived at the table but no one else was given their food for another 6 minutes. Once the rest of the food did arrive, the only hot item was the fries. The chips that came with the french dip were soggy and bendable. I tuna and salmon on the sushi & salad was inedible. The burgers were meh with not much topping on it for $26. This was a terrible experience for myself and everyone else in my group, none of us will be returning.
We were in the area and dropped into the Kona Grill. We've dined here in the past, the menu has a number of options for almost anyone. Our server Nami was amazing. It was a perfect nightout downtown. Kuddos to the Manager.
