It was my first time. It was good food, the waitress was friendly, and the atmosphere was good even inside may be small but the sitting with the table was fine for me. It’s cool to see many $1 bill on the wall everywhere.

This was my first time having real ramen, which is a lot like pho, and I really liked it. The crab rangoons crush the kind you get at a typical Chinese restaurant. The pork belly buns are unique and super tasty. The place is located in an old school diner, which is cool. I will say that the bathroom unintentionally mimics something you’d find in one of those tiny Japanese apartments, which I guess adds to the experience.

Food was good. Very spicy but not over baring. Nice portions. Dumplings tasted normal how they were suppose to taste. Nice sized dumplings too. We ordered Hot Green Tea that came out warm. Very tite space inside. When we sat down we felt a draft of cold air. Other than the cold air we felt 7/10. Definitely would try again when it’s not cold out.

My boyfriend and I came for dinner and had an fantastic experience. The food was delicious and the staff were extremely warm and welcoming. They make all of their sauces and soup broths from scratch, the fish was very fresh, and the presentation was beautiful. I would highly recommend this restaurant!

Fantastic sushi spot right in the heart of Downtown Albany, the food was incredible, and the service was exceptional. I ordered both sushi and sashimi, and my wife ordered Ramen, everything was fresh and delicious! We will definitely be going back!

Shogun has been a favorite of mine for YEARS, and they haven’t missed a beat!! The staff are friendly; Ray and Lee are our favs - but EVERYONE is great! The Japanese beef noodles are a must try! The veggies are sautéed to perfection and the beef is tender, well seasoned and delicious. Their sushi rolls are a must! My favs are the basics spicy crunchy tuna and yellow-tail. The funky monkey is an interesting and delicious dish! I don’t know who thought to stuff jalapeños with cream cheese, spicy tuna, topped with eel sauce and tabiko, but THANK YOU! The ginger dressing on the salad needs to be bottled and sold, ASAP! The spicy rock shrimp are a must try, (they will even lightly dress them with the spicy aioli if you request it… like I did)! The Harmaki are crispy, light, flavorful and delicious… order 2!

Completely disappointed. The seafood soup should have been labeled 'miso broth'. Only two pieces of seafood in a large bowl! Stupid expensive for nothing. Broth, overcooked scallop, overcooked shrimp, and plastic tasting imitation crab meat. Service was inattentive and disorganized. Fortunately the sushi rolls were good. Definitely not worth coming here.

Typical small town Asian restaurant that sell everything from sushi to Thai food. My friends and I came here for dinner on Sunday and everything we ordered were better than we expected. We especially liked the spicy rock shrimp, and the rolls were also solid for the price.

Sushi by Bou in Albany, NY, is an extraordinary dining experience that I would highly recommend to anyone looking to enjoy omakase at its finest. The entire setup is intimate, with only a small group of about 8-9 people, which creates a cozy and personal atmosphere for the evening. The experience is beautifully curated, with 18 courses that are each unique and absolutely delicious. Every course felt like a new adventure, and you could see the chef’s passion in the way each dish was prepared and presented. The chef was not only skilled but also entertaining, adding a fun and engaging touch to the experience. If you look at the pictures I’ve shared, you’ll get a glimpse of the artistry and variety offered throughout the meal. One highlight I highly recommend is the "Big Mac" course. Whether you choose to have it as the second-to-last course or as the grand finale, it’s a must-try and a perfect way to cap off the evening. Personally, I think it makes for an unforgettable grand finale! Keep in mind, though—you will definitely leave stuffed. Make sure to come with an empty stomach to fully enjoy this culinary journey. The pricing was very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food served. Whether you drink alcohol or not, the beverage options cater to everyone, including excellent non-alcoholic choices. Additionally, they are accommodating with substitutions, as long as you inform the chef of any dietary restrictions in advance. Overall, Sushi by Bou delivers a stupendous experience that is worth every penny. From the food and service to the atmosphere, everything was perfect. If you’re considering a visit, don’t hesitate—this is an experience you won’t forget!

This is the best sushi I have ever had, it is amazing, the quality and everything. Carl was the best chef and was a delight to chat with as well. The rest of the crew, Sam, Germaine and more were amazing. I want to thank sushi by bou for the great experience and the great chat, encourage everyone to go here.

Came here for a birthday dinner in November and it was an AMAZING experience. I’ve always wanted to try omakase style dining and this was a great introduction. The bartender was very attentive and so sweet, he made me a special drink off menu just because it was my birthday. We were with another party and it still felt very special. The vibe is intimate and I definitely left feeling bad and “bou-gie”

Tried this place after work tonight. The food in house was pretty good and it was pretty quiet since it was a Monday. I had crab rangoon and an octopus appetizer, which were great. I ordered two egg rolls to go and was disappointed when I took a bite later that night. They were a bit burnt and it just tasted off. I couldn't tell if maybe it was an old oil taste or the egg roll as a whole wasn't good. Aside from that, the food and service were good. Just stay away from the egg rolls.

Nothing fancy about the location, but the food and service are excellent. We shared 3 rolls, 2 sashimi and Malaysian Eggplant. All were delicious. We are not from the area, but highly recommend.

Great food. Appropriately priced. Service is on point. Wait staff is very attentive and answered all my questions. Sushimi is fresh and sushi was well done with minimal rice. Edible flowers were a great addition and complementary pi apple was tasty too! Nice place to eat. Too bad I was just passing through town.

First time here and the food was delicious although there was one worker at the restaurant. it took a bit for the food and everything to come out. The atmosphere is nice and the menu is huge which I don't mind. The tea should have been served in tea cups not glass cups. Keep up the good work. It's a new sushi restaurant so it will take time for them to improve. Come on in and try them out.

Ordered salmon skin salad, wok fried calamari, and sushi for two. Food was great and service was great. While the staff I encountered were not fluent in English, they were very friendly and made sure everything was good.

It’s a nice hole in the wall restaurant. The atmosphere is humble, but the food is delicious and is presented nicely. The owner puts a lot of effort into the quality of the food and service.

Love this place ☺️ I have to say that these reviews are misleading. Are they good customers, do they tip? I'm treated wonderfully as I am polite and I appreciate good service by tipping. The food is worth the price. Every time I come to Albany I will stop here. Delicious food, very clean and friendly. I've been asked to recommend dishes. I recommend everything! The combination dishes are a great way to sample your first time there. The sushi and rolls are fresh and the best I've ever had. I've never been disappointed on deliveries or in the restaurant. My only complaint is that I have moved north and out of delivery range. I need to get to Albany more.

Tonight I was well received by a lady who knows customers. I ordered rolls which were very good, but the wasabi needs to be more smooth and liquid. The dining area is clean and presentation is okay. It is a bit busy on the wall behind the register. Would recommend there sushi and roll. I am giving a semi vegetarian review. Will check back again to see the all around quality.

Ordered $70 worth of food for pick up. I requested green onions in my hot and sour soup. There was 2 slices. When I went in to confront the owner about it. She showed me a container full of MSG and sparse green onions. Stating that they do not charge extra. Couldn't find a container. I said forget it andedt. Got home to my daughter finding a gelly like substance in her chow mien. Photo attached. They do not care about customer satisfaction only about the money.

Unfortunately, my latest visit left me severely ill – I developed intense stomach cramps shortly after the meal, requiring urgent restroom visits both at the restaurant and later at the mall. The discomfort persisted into the next day. While I can't definitively pinpoint the cause (whether it was the raw fish, water, or something else), this was a stark departure from my previous visits. I sincerely hope this was an isolated incident rather than an ongoing food safety issue. The kitchen might want to double-check their ingredient sourcing and handling protocols. A minor critique unrelated to the food: The bustling atmosphere, while a testament to their popularity, does create significant ambient noise. During peak hours, you'll need to lean in closely to hear dining companions – perhaps some space optimization or acoustic adjustments could enhance the experience. The taste keeps me coming back, but this episode has made me hesitant. Proceed with caution if you're sensitive to raw items or prefer quieter environments.

Summary: food is passable. Would rate it a 3 or 3.5, bumping up to 4 because it is AYCE and I received reasonably responsive service. I would not consider it "authentic". Pros: + Selection at lunch is reasonable + Hot apps appeared to be cooked to order and came out quickly + Staff were prompt and polite + Yakitori-esque items are less common in the Capital region Cons: - Sushi is very light on the seafood - Rice was an odd combination of chalky and slightly gummy, like it was made too far ahead of time and refrigerated - Minced fish and "crunch" is always a little bit of a red flag for me Interior shows age with worn menus, tables, and seating. I did not get drinks. I sampled various items: miso soup, age tofu, chicken and squid yakitori, hand rolls (including spicy shrimp), a spider roll, and nigirizushi (salmon, tuna, spicy salmon, shrimp, red snapper, masago, "tofu skin" - their version of inari, and egg cake). The place was busy for a Wednesday lunch (12:30-1:15), but I was seated immediately. Good staff coverage kept things moving efficiently. Unfortunately, all yakitori items and the fried tofu used the same sauce. The grilled items were also dusted liberally with Japanese red pepper. With too much of the same sauce and shichimi, they had no personality. The single portion of squid was large, but just small chunks on a plate. The tofu was disappointing - just skillfully-fried tofu chunks with sweetish sauce instead of the bright, refreshing appetizer it should be (no green garnish, dashi or grated daikon). The sushi tasted good and was plated nicely. Service was quick and logical. The nigiri had a poor rice-to-topping ratio due to thin-cut fish, and portions were small - understandable given the AYCE format. Apologies for the used chopsticks, but you can see size and topping thickness in one of my attached photos. The rice texture was dense, and the spider roll seemed more fried coating than actual crab. Hand rolls were better options, though options that relied too much on minced ingredients with added "crunch" were low-lights. The tamago was better than some local places - does not appear to be freshly made, but decent. Nothing was 'bad,' but adhering more to traditional preparation methods would elevate their food from passable to truly good. After trying lunch, I'm still curious about their dinner menu, but probably won't return often as I prefer more authentic Japanese cuisine with specific ingredient or flavor contrasts and more involved execution. For me, Japanese food is about elevating the ingredients with simplicity and understated flourishes - and Wasabi doesn't check that specific box. I think some extra care or attention from the chefs could punch up their food. Perhaps dinner offers a better experience! That said, this could be a good casual izakaya-esque option with friends - I'd totally be into more items in this category given that it's basically nonexistent around here. Despite my critique, I left satisfied overall (hence the 4-star rating). For AYCE sushi, this place offers reasonable value considering the format and price point challenges. I ended up eating here 2 days in a row as I was leaving the country and my local friends love this place. There were lots of inconsistencies in quality and portion sizes between the 2 nights that caused an additional charge at the end of the night. I am not convinced this is a fair practice. I did enjoy the experience, but would suggest to the owners to set portion expectations and stick to it.

I'm here often, a big fan for sure. The ramen here is also one of the top 3 of at least 20 mi. Of Albany! Just called in a day prior to book a reservation for 17 people. Not only were they able to accommodate, but the service was incredible! We had a blast and all the staff was amazing! Food took very little time. It was prepared well and tasted incredible!

We just received our takeout order. Simply 2 rolls, a chicken entree, soup and salad. It came to close to $50, including the delivery fees and tip. So, about $40 of food. The portions were horribly small for this cost. We expected much more. We will never order delivery/takeout from here again, even if it's delicious.

Hands down the best sushi in the capital district. If I could eat here multiple times a week I would. When you walk in you are immediately welcomed with a delicious aroma and a smile from the nicest staff. Every item we’ve tried has been phenomenal. Service is excellent. The staff are friendly and sweet people. It can get busy on Fridays and Saturdays, but be patient— it’s worth the wait. The spicy tuna crunch roll melts in your mouth. The pizza roll is a fun choice. Appetizers and soups are great. Everything is high quality and visually stunning.

Haven’t been in years as I no longer live close but was nearby tonight so stopped with my family on 4. Luckily Sunday through Thursday from 3-6 is happy hour in the regular dining room. We got seated right away and the staff were friendly. I got a delicious lychee martini. My family shared miso soup, money bags (cute crab Rangoon), rock shrimp, spicy tuna roll, Philadelphia roll, rainbow roll and a shrimp tempura roll. Everything was fresh, delicious and came out quickly. Lots of lovely decor and mood lighting. All we got came to less than $50! I couldn’t believe the value honestly. Will absolutely return and highly suggest their happy hour specials.

Sam and Maddy were fantastic. I was passing thru town and wanted a quick, good sushi lunch. read reviews. Went. Was very happy. Big plump rolls, hot miso.. cool place.. big bar. Easy parking. It's tucked away just above - up the hill from - the sheetz? Big gas station. It's one of the restaurants in the hotel. Has its own entrance in backside of hotel. Can't wait to go back. Lunch specials pricing great. There is an all you can eat I think too.

To be honest, the food was scrumptious during. I went there everyday during my three day staying in Albany. Salmon was fresh and the food was in big portion. However, the two waitresses speaking in mandarin were horrifying. One slap the bill hardly just because I did not make her keep the change. She asked me rudely: Do you want change. The third day, the other chinese waitress served me. She refused the the tipping and pushed back the money. okay fine. The owner was nice.

We made a reservation for 10 people and arranged a hibachi table. When the first 5 of us arrived, they told us we couldn’t be seated until everyone was there and made us wait at the door for 10 minutes. The staff had difficulty understanding us, and their attitude was rude. In terms of food quality, I think this place is mediocre. Aside from the cooking and fire show at the hibachi table, there is nothing remarkable in terms of taste or quality. Despite this, the pricing is on par with high-end restaurants. I’ve been here twice in the last five years, and I don’t think I’ll be coming back.

The perfect stage for an amazing evening! It was my birthday, and Leo, our hibachi chef, made sure everyone knew it—haha! Watching him cook right in front of us was mesmerizing. His skill, precision, and sense of humor added so much excitement to the meal. Leo made sure to involve everyone at the table, creating an experience that was as entertaining as it was delicious. If you’re looking for great food, fun entertainment, and exceptional service, Samurai is the place to go. I can’t recommend it enough for special occasions or just a fun night out.

Impressive.  Sushi chefs' attention to detail is apparent.  The salmon, tuna, and yellowtail I had each enjoyed its flavor plain.   Melt-in-mouth consistency and fresh, flavorful plates and friendly staff make this among the best Sushi you can enjoy local to Albany.  Consistent in flavor, presentation, complex-order big-party attention-to-detail, and attentive staffing.  Not inexpensive.  Also not a place you can visit just once; once you try it, you'll want to return to try the other thing you could have ordered on your first visit.  Great all around, welcoming, comfortable space.  Recommended. Also shown:  "salmon dream", four pieces of salmon sashimi rolled, seared on the outside, drizzled with a homemade sauce. Together with salmon roe. Cooked, raw, and roe- together- among the best flavors of salmon i've ever had.

Brought my daughter on a whim last night and it was so great! We sat at the sushi bar and the staff was so amazing. They were teaching us how to say thank you and you’re welcome in mandarin and offered my daughter a free Japanese soda. Sushi was great. Wil def be back.

Got an ad for the restaurant in my mail, and decided to try it out on a whim. Phenomenal food, and incredibly reasonably priced. The portion sizes are huge for the amount of money you’re paying, and everything tasted incredible. Will definitely be going back!

Would recommend! Variety of delicious dishes and cocktails. Service/waiter was fast. Atmosphere was very zen. A few items we ordered were: Scorpion Bowl, Blue Hawaiian, I can’t remember the name of the Orange/Yellow cocktail, Crab Rangoon, Rock Shrimp, Shrimp/Lobster Hibachi, Shrimp Hibachi, and Chicken Hibachi. We also ordered Tempura Cheesecake (no picture) and it was tasty, not too sweet. Also there is a parking lot with lots of spaces.

The sushiI had was absolutely fantastic, with the perfect balance of fresh ingredients and bold flavors that left me wanting more. It was expertly prepared, and each bite was a delightful experience. The staff at the restaurant were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to ensure I had a great experience. They took the time to explain the menu in detail, answering all of my questions with patience. Alongside the sushi, I ordered a bubble tea as well, which turned out to be the perfect complement to my meal. I can confidently say it was the best tea and sushi I’ve ever had in the entire Capital Region. And I’ll definitely be returning soon.

This place, never fails to disappoint. There’s a lot of tender, loving care that goes into preparing each bubble tea as well as the delicious sushi that has just a very upscale taste. It feels like you’re getting the value of what you’re paying for. I would recommend this place as one critical suggestion for the future offer volcano roles as a complementary addition to whatever sushi meal you do. Most sushi places offer volcano rolls complementary.

This place was AWESOME. Service was super fast and staff was kind. Nice, chill atmosphere. I ate as much as I could, portions were a good size! Macaroons were delightful. Can't wait to try the bubble tea next time.

Kazan is a cute place. Sushi is really good and always fresh. The duck buns are my partners favorite but make sure you order them to your liking (not made in classic way) but they will add whatever you ask for. TONY IS THE MAN!!

The Ramen was AMAZING! So far it was the best we have ever had. We tried another popular ramen restaurant in Albany prior, but Kazan was much better. Also, the sushi was delicious and well made. The staff was super friendly and polite. Our waiter was super patient and answered all of our questions. The food came out quickly. The steamed duck rolls were incredible. We had a fantastic experience and plan to return. The one and only thing I would change would be to add a kids menu. It is perfect without it of course, but would be a good addition for families :)

I stopped by this sushi restaurant during a work trip. The service was prompt and the sushi was delicious. Very fresh and tasty. Albany Georgia, I would take you back to the buckeye State if I could. They appeared to be very accommodating as well for their customers. If you don't like"raw" sushi rolls, they'll fry it (ruin it) for you. I'll be back for more!

Wow, I am impressed. This was way better than what I expected, and the tuna avocado salad was superb! Huge bowl of super fresh tuna in ponzu with avocado and shaved cucumber This was also so much better than the other sushi place up the street, ate there last week (while traveling on business) and was completely underwhelmed.

Always a great place to visit and the food never disappoints. I love getting to go by and while sometimes they are busy, the servers are always friendly. If you love sushi, it's a great option, especially if you like a relaxed atmosphere where you can just enjoy your meal.

Love love this restaurant! Due to COVID19 you cannot currently dine in as to protect customers and employees. My family and I enjoy the variety of hot delicious meals they serve. All of the meals we ordered actually have you super full and many times just one of the bowls have so much food that you are not able to finish it in one sitting. That is a plus when you have mouths to feed and unable to cook lunch or dinner that day.

I asked for the veggies to be put in a separate container because my husband likes them but I don't. They said they could do that but they would "have to" CHARGE ME for a side of veggies to put them in another container. Stupidest thing I've ever heard!

First visit and food was great and we had enough. My whole family visited and we're happy. They enjoyed the food. Four years to seventy two, seven in the party, we were enjoyable surprise. My daughter had been before and I was there was new management. All they need to do is be consistent. .

The staff did a great job. The food was hot and came out quickly. They were also gracious when we wanted a drink that we asked to be tweaked for a personal preference. Jay was our waiter and was kind and cared about getting everything right. The lobster had good taste but was a bit tough, but the staff made up for any shortfall. We will be back.

First time eating here. It was delicious & my sister's Birthday Day, they made it special for her!!!. Highly recommend this restaurant. I have sushi & it was great.

Egg roll and crab Rangoon was hard and over cooked. They didn’t even form the crab rangoons and I think they substituted half of it for chicken. The pork lo mein tasted weird.

The food is delicious and so much of it....will definitely be back to get some more....

The best sesame chicken in the city hands down, great customer service every time I go plus their not stingy condiments and napkins. Always make sure I have all I need.

I hadn’t been to Mikata in years and decided to give it another try—and I’m glad I did! From start to finish, everything was on point. The soup was flavorful, the steak melted in my mouth, and the shrimp was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was what you’d expect from a Japanese steakhouse—lively and fun. Our chef was entertaining, making the experience even more enjoyable. The only downside was the service. While the server was quick to take our order, they didn’t bring the same energy when it came to refills. That said, it didn’t take away from the overall experience, which was just as good as I remembered. If you’re looking for a great hibachi experience, Mikata is definitely worth a visit!

This place has fell off completely. I came yesterday and had the chicken and shrimp entree + ginger salad & miso soup. It all tasted so funny to me. I also had a pina colada frozen daiquiri which wasn’t that good either. I was hungry so I ate it, but I didn’t finish it. I didn’t even want the rest in a togo box. The bartender was sweet.

Was my hubby and I first time. Had heard great things about this restaurant and it didn't disappoint. We both had the #8 combo which comes with soup, salad, stake, chicken, shrimp & fried rice. And sherbet for dessert. Hubby had water and I had the Makita special (non alcohol) Chef was entertaining and sociable Side note Hubby cleaned his plate ( no shocker there)however I took home to go boxes
